Heart and walls of Fort Kochi is ready for Kochi Muziris Biennale 2016. Dates: 12 December 2016 – 29 March 2017. Artistic 4 months!

The Kochi Biennale Foundation was found on the conviction that art is essential for our society today. While the Kochi-Muziris Biennale is the flagship event, the Kochi Biennale Foundation also over-sees a comprehensive programmes division that organise, conducts and manage education and outreach initiatives throughout the year. These programmes include talks, conferences, performances, educational initiatives, workshops and other forms of wide public engagement.

Kochi Muziris Biennale 2016 Initiatives

Students Biennale:
An International platform to showcase works of BFA and MFA students in India; led by 15 young curators.

History Now Conversations:
A series of conversations to initiate different points of inquiry on contemporary subjects, bringing a range of topics and thinkers into contact with each other.

Art By Children:
India’s first art event dedicated to children’s artworks, produced during workshops conducted in 100 schools across Kerala.

Art Workshops:
A series of research-driven, evidence based Art Workshops to broaden public understanding and access to art across the country.

Pepper House Residency + Exhibition:
An international residency programme for artists working across various media.

Artists’ Cinema:
A curated film festival showcasing diverse genre and formats of moving images ; includes talks and workshops.

Art + Medicine:
Integrating visual arts, and musical performances to enrich the lives of patients.

Master Practice Studios:
A series of workshops designed as practical spaces for intensive learning and exchange between aspiring artists or students of art and professional artists.

Lets Talk Series:
Talks and seminars by a range of exceptional people, including the Biennale’s participant artists, historians, writers, curators, and activists.

Video Lab:
An Initiative supported by Tata Trusts, KBF Video Lab is a space for experimentation and research through innovative video projects on contemporary art, artists and art practices.

Music of Muziris:
An international music programme presenting live performances by masters & emerging young musicians.

Young Residency:
A residency opportunity for young artists to strengthen their art practice and build confidence.
