Named after General John Munro (June 1778 – 25 January 1858), Munroe Island or Munroe Thuruthu is an island village, which now a new tourism destination in Kollam district, South of Kerala. An island where not much development has ruined it.

Munroe Island can be reached from Kollam railway station by road (28 km),12 km from Kundara (24 km) and from Karunagapally at North. The island is 78 km by road from the Trivandrun internations/domestic airport.
